Physical therapy works by using a variety of treatments to help patients with pain, injury, and disability, and to help them return to their prior level of activity. Treatments include stretching and strengthening exercises, manual therapy techniques, therapeutic modalities, and patient education. Physical therapists also provide advice on proper body mechanics, and lifestyle modifications to help patients prevent future injuries or illnesses.
Parents can encourage their children to get involved in physical activities and sports that they enjoy. This can help foster a positive attitude towards physical activity and can be beneficial to their physical and mental development.
Parents can create a safe and inviting play space in their home where their children can explore and engage in physical activities. This can include age–appropriate toys, as well as equipment such as trampolines, balls, and other items that promote physical development.
Children learn best by example, so it’s important for parents to model good physical habits. This means eating healthy, exercising regularly, and engaging in activities that promote physical health.
